SHADE HADIE oPEN THE REDLANDS COAST BLUES FESTIVAL

Redlands Coast Blues Festival 2025

Redland Showgrounds, Capalaba, Queensland, Saturday 5 April 2025

Shade Hadie joined an amazing line up of artists with a diverse mix of blues genres, from traditional to modern, electric to acoustic for a colourful all-day and night festival experience on the Redlands Coast.

Shade Hadie kicked off the music with their signature mix of Chicago Blues and gritty, experimental Tom Waits covers. The band delivered an explosive performance with the powerful, gravelly vocals of Buddy Moyes intermingled with the classic blues of his harmonica.  With intricate and unpredectible guitar solos by Moyes and fellow lead guitarist Oskar Thaw backed by Michael Georgas on bass and the theatrical soundscape of percussionist Riley Sharp. Supported by second drummer Dante Riggs-Price, vocalist Elke Lockefeer and Cameron Dymock on sax, and with the gritty texture of cow bells, wood blocks and all manner of objects clamped to Sharp's kit, the band created an absolutely unforgettable start to the Festival.  It was inspiring to see a young band bringing their fresh, raw talent to the wider blues community of South East Queensland.

Presented by Redland Bayside News, Rotary Club of Capalaba, Redland City Council, Bendigo Bank, Redlands Coast Museum
